چکیده

This paper describes the measuring of pilot response time to a sudden change in a controlled parameter whilst flying an aircraft. The authors of this paper created an analytical model of human behavior from the basic data of an automated regulation. The measurements have been done on a Cessna 152 simulator at the University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield. The tested pilots were pilot students with several tens of flight hours in real planes. The pilot’s response to a sudden aircraft altitude change was measured. For analysis of the measured results a mathematical identification model in MATLAB® environment was used. The results obtained from MATLAB® confirm that the experimental measurements were successful.

Parameter Estimation of Transfer Function of Pilot Behavior Model from Measured Data

This paper describes calculations and results of time constants of mathematical model of a pilot’s behavior. Pilot was tested to a sudden altitude change whilst he controlled an aircraft. For calculations were used two different methods of measured data processing. Firstly the method using System Identification ToolboxTM from programming environment MATLAB® was applied. The second method used t...

Measuring Human Response to a Visual Stimulus Using a Joystick

Measuring the human response to a visual stimulus is the next necessary step for future flight simulator testing. Two different methods: an identification algorithm, designed by the authors; and a simulation system MATLAB add on System Identification Toolbox, were used. The results from both methods, i.e. the individual parameters of the transfer function for the pilot behaviour model, were pra...

Development of a Real-time Flight Simulator for an Experimental Model Helicopter

SUMMARY This work first describes the development of a real-time flight simulator for an R-50 experimental model helicopter. A mathematical model of the helicopter is developed to represent the dynamics of the real system. This simulation model is used to investigate and analyze the helicopter dynamics in a hovering flight condition. The importance of a control rotor used for stability augmenta...

Sensitivity Analysis of Pilot Behavior Tested on Flight Simulator

This paper describes another option for the evaluation and analysis of data measured on flight simulator using alternative human behavior models – human as a pilot while flying an aircraft. Paper also describes the original method of mathematical human behavior model sensitivity analysis, or more precisely, pilot's response to a sudden change of flight altitude. The model is in the form of a ra...

On-board Statistical Detection and Control of Anomalous Pilot-aircraft Interactions

A statistical method for the on-board detection and control of oscillatory phenomena in pilot-aircraft systems is presented. Recursive identification is used to obtain a linear model of the system at every time instant. The estimated system parameters are monitored, and the system stability margins are continuously assessed. Oscillations due to stability loss are detected early, using a composi...
